One of my childhood hobby was coloring. I always loved picking up coloring books at the bookstore and just color my time away. I remember my mom would actually buy sketchbooks and draw cartoon characters for us to color on.
I guess as we grow up, we distanced ourselves from the fun things we used to do and start to do more “adult” things. So recently I have reconnected with my inner child and totally fell in love with coloring. I heard from some friends that there are many adults doing so – they called it coloring therapy – and it is actually quite popular now in Europe.
Coloring actually has a de-stressing effect. As we focus on a particular activity, it will take our minds off our worries. plus it takes us back to our childhood – a time in our lives which we most certainly has lesser stress and also in turn brings out of creativity.
Recently I have quite a few coloring books to start my journey of colors. The few that I owned now are – Cinnamon Roll, Disney Princess, Secret Garden, Fashion Fantasies. I will be posting some previews of the books below.
I have only started coloring the leaves in the clothes, I will post again once I have completed her.
These are extracts from Secret Garden. Just a small tip, there are actually English and Chinese versions of this book. If you are interested to get any, please look for the Chinese version as it is almost $10 cheaper, on top of that, there is a 20% discount. So you’d save more.
Almost completed work. I am left with the colors of his friends which I have not exactly figured out. I have gotten a new set of color pencils as the initial one I got was really atrocious. I dislike the waxy feeling it left and there were a lot of patchy and sketchy areas when I was coloring. Quite evident in the picture above.
This was highly recommended by a good friend of mine who enjoys coloring too.
I think it is a good way to help me relax after a hectic day of work. It is very therapeutic doing something I used to enjoy so much. I will update the completed works I have done (hopefully soon) and do share with me if you enjoy coloring or considering to pick up any coloring books at the bookstore any time soon.
Have a great weekend! xoxo
